Michael J. Duran gets in one final pre-show laugh with cast members Bren. Eyestone Burron, left, and Alicia Dunfee, who is married to musical conductor Neal Dunfee.
I could be totally wrong about this, but I believe longtime BDT favorite Alicia Dunfee is among the first (if not the first) woman to take on the official role of pre-show audience greeter. Very progressive for 1964!
The Saturday night curtain call had many in the audience on their feet.
Real bonds develop between BDT actors and audience, in part because the cast members serve them their dinner and dessert. The evening often ends with tips on the tables – and warm good-night hugs. Here, Bren. Eyestone Burron says goodbye to a patron from one of her tables.
Should they need to, audiences can put a face to the name on their way out of the lobby.
It may have been the presence of the camera, hah, but I’m guessing no — producer Michael J. Duran jumps in to help accelerate the coat-check line and get patrons on their way home on a snowy Saturday night.
